Theme for 2015: Year of Food and Drink
Date: September 2015
The launch of Scottish Archaeology and Heritage Festival (SAHF), 'A GRAND DAY OUT' took place on 5th September 2015 at Rouken Glen Park East Renfrewshire. Replacing Scottish Archaeology Month, the launch marked the start of hundreds of events across Scotland which celebrate our archaeology and heritage. This festival is co-ordinated by Archaeology Scotland.
Doors Open Days (DOD) events run in different regions of Scotland each weekend in September offering free access to hundreds of fascinating sites not usually open to the public. DOD is co-ordinated by the Scottish Civic Trust.
Together SAHF and DOD, both supported by Historic Environment Scotland (HES), the new body for Historic Scotland and the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland, are Scotland’s contribution to European Heritage Days.
